Talking leadership with Claudio Ranieri

Creating content for Smith & Williamson’s client magazines often involves speaking to some great individuals. Our latest interview, which caused much excitement in the office, was with Premier League champions Leicester City FC’s Claudio Ranieri.

It was a great honour to interview Claudio Ranieri for Enterprise, Smith & Williamson’s twice-yearly publication covering topics of interest to entrepreneurs and growth businesses. It’s one of several client communications we work on for the firm.

The latest issue explores the topic of leadership with the man behind the biggest upset in English football history.

Secrets of success
Ranieri says his leadership style is based on helping everyone give their best to the team and focusing on performance rather than results. To Ranieri, mistakes are something to learn and build from, rather than something to blame players for. “I’m not worried if we make mistakes as long as we play with our hearts. But let’s learn from them to help us improve. I want the players to come to training with smiles on their faces – always positive.”

Team effort
Being able to put Ranieri’s remarkable story into words was the result of working closely with Guy Rigby, the firm’s head of services to entrepreneurs and a leading adviser to fast growth businesses, and with Smith & Williamson’s marketing team.

The firm counts on us to take care of the entire editorial process from start to finish for each issue. This includes planning the themes of each edition, commissioning and generating articles, writing and editing topical articles and working with the firm’s in-house design team on imagery and layout.

The result is a great marketing tool that helps Smith & Williamson raise its profile and demonstrate its expertise to prospective clients and key stakeholders.
